Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an uncontrolled chemical reaction in the process of manufacturing a wax emulsion (a) East Central Wax Co. Inc., Columbus, Ga - On or about 1-21-99 - An employee added calcium hypochlorite powder to a filter unit resulting in an explosion. One feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to use the product in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and add the product at a different point in the process. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
