Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed by rolling machinery while performing logging operations on the Riskey Whiver timber sale: (a) Riskey Whiver Landing: On or about August 28, 2015, and at times prior thereto, employees were exposed to crushing hazards when they used a Link Belt 98 Cable Yarder with 1" 6x26 Warrington Seale guy block cables attached to Upson Walton ferrules. The employer had performed inadequate preventative maintenance on the guy block cables as long term corrosion was present on the cables. Note: Abatement certification and supporting documentation ARE required for this item.
