Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Vehicle Maintenance Facility - Dry Fire Sprinkler System Employees were exposed to the hazard of fire/smoke, due to the fire department not being notified immediately that the fire sprinkler system was shut down, as required by National Fire Protection Association, NFPA I,Sect.7-5.1 and the New Jersey State Uniform Fire Safety Act, 5:18-3.4(b)(1). Notification of the Fire Department is one feasible and acceptable method of abatement. Violation occured on or about 08/03/95.
