Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: a)On or about 6-20-00, in the warehouse: The employees were not provided with personal fall protection equipment that was free from defects in the lanyard was damaged and could no longer function as required. ABATEMENT NOTES: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to replace the lanyard. b)On or about 6-20-00, in the warehouse: Employees that were utilizing the body belt and lanyard were not trained on the proper use or how to inspect the equipment. ABATEMENT NOTES: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to train employees on how to use and inspect the body belt and lanyard that is required by the manufacturer and as required by ASME B56.1-1993, chapter 4.17.2 Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
