Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees from 10-12 ft. fall hazard while sitting on the top of a self-supporting step ladder. On or about May 27, 2015, in the Production Area, an employee was exposed to an approximately 10-12 ft. fall hazard while sitting on the top step of a fiberglass self-supporting step ladder to unjam stuck product coming out of the freezer spiral and onto a bend on the siderail of the conveyor leading down to the production lines. Among other methods, one method of feasible abatement would be to use the portable self-supporting ladder as designed, in accordance with ALI/A14.5-2007, Portable Reinforced Plastic Ladders, Section 9.3, Use the portable self-supporting ladder as designed.
