Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that portion of the overhead conveyor where employees have to work under or walk under was not provided with spill guards, pan guards, or equivalent to protect employees from falling parts. (a) portion of the overhead conveyor where employees had to work under and walk under was not provided with catch platform or similar equipments to catch falling parts. Parts hang on the conveyor by hooks and these hooks were old. Hanger said if they hammer the hook in place, the part should not fall. One maintenance man said he saw a part laying on the floor a few weeks ago which indicated that these parts do fall at times. Employees exposed to being struck by the parts.
