Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)the hazards of being struck by falling portions of the hoisted load and/or crane structure of the Manitowoc Model 2800 barge mounted crane, located at the west side of the yard, Part Arthur shipyard on or about 9/20/94. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct his hazard is the load test with added counterweight and recertify crane as recommended by the manufacturer.
