Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to serious physcial injury during the erection or wooden roof trusses without first assuring that the method of erection was adequate and safe. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to follow bracing suggestions by the Truss Plate Institute to prevent the trusses ffom falling in either direction. A> Jobsite: 805 South Washington St., N. Attleboro, west side: On December 3, 1990 employees were setting wood frame gable trusses without adequate bracing to protect employees from a collapse of the trusses.
