Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to broken bones, bruises and contusions while using step ladders on uneven surfaces: (a) Location - Roof of 161 Worcester Road, Framingham, MA: On 4/28/04, employees were exposed to serious injuries while using two fiberglass step ladders on uneven support surfaces. Among other methods feasible and acceptable to correct this hazard include, but are not limited to: a. Insert into the existing company ladder use, literature section 9.3.4 of Ansi A14.5- 2000 roofing support. b. Retrain employees in the proper use of ladders.
