Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LOCKOUT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) F/V American Empress: In the processing area, mechanical, electrical and engine room, there were no written procedures, rules or training developed or implemented on energy controls for employee protection and training against hazards such as bruises, contusions, fractures and death when working on repairing processing equipment, mechanical, electrical and engine room equipment in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.147. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to develop and implement a written training program on lockout/tagout.
