Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 201 of the Executive Order 12196 of 1980: The employer did not furnish to employees places and conditions of employment that were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a)Conditions similar to what had caused two previous injuries, park management allowed employees to work down slope from where rocks were being intentional dislodged. Management did not require trail crew members to use techniques which would greatly reduce the hazard of being struck by boulders. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to require employees to position themselves horizontally, working from the top down. When rocks and boulders are being intentionally dislodged, other workers must not be allowed to work down hill.
