Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likley to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about July 31, 1991 employees were exposed to broken bones, sprain, and lacertions due to being caught between the 6'x 6'x 6' metal chicken cages on a conveyor or related equipment. When operating the dumping and reeceving machine, the controls were not labeled or marked for their functions as described by ASME B 20.1 - 1990, Section 5.11.2. (1) Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to enforce adequate safety standard for conveyors and related equipment such as that discribed by ASME B 20 1 -1990, Section 5.11.2.
