Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazard: a) Building 3, Gas Meter Room: Dresser couplings used to connect 10-inch and 14-inch lines carrying natural gas and/or propane gas were not anchored or braced. On or about 1/7/96. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: 1.Anchor or brace the pipe joints in accordance with the couplings manufacturer recommendations. 2.For additional assistant please refer to; National Fuel Gas Code - 1992, Part 2; Gas Engineers Handbook - 1965, Section 834.
