Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hazard of falling from the Upright Scissors Lift,Model SL-20D, located at the North hallway of area A. One feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to install a mid-rail at the entrance end, and replace the missing safety pin for the top rail. b)The hazard of fire and explosion from the batteries for the Mark Industries Scissors Lift located at the center of the building. One feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to replace the covers for the batteries and electrical system. c)The hazard of fire and explosion from the batteries for the one man lift located at the North-west corner of the building.
