Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a potential fall of 24 ft. 6 in. to floor level while standing on the top rail of an Economy Wildcat aerial work platform (#50476). The employee was sealing and cleaning the skylight panels. a) Upper Floor Level in front of Store #L201. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide an aerial work platform that is capable of safety elevating employees to a height that is high enough to allow them to perform their assigned tasks while standing firmly on the platform deck.
