Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: On or about March 10, 1995, an employee was exposed to crushing injuries while disconnecting the lifting cable from the Churchill, Model 50-84, Serial Number 5007840371, T-Base oilfield pumping unit located in the back lot of Panhandle Oilfield Service Companies, Inc. Employee was located between the winch truck and the approximately 8000-lb. pumping unit that had been placed on muddy soil without adequately supporting the T-Base to ensure the pumping unit was stable to prevent tipping and/or shifting. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be ensure that Churchill T-Base oilfield pumping units are stored on stable foundation or footings capable of supporting the weight of the pumping unit as specified in the Recommended Practice for Installation and Lubrication of Pumping Units (API Recommended Practice 11G, Fourth Edition, November 1, 1994) or equivalent manufacturer recommendations. IN THE ALTERNATIVE 29 CFR 1910.176(b): Storage of materials created a hazard.
