Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed by rolling or falling poles: a)Barge "Cheramie Bros. 105" - Support system was not of adequate strength to hold wooden poles in place on the barge, on or about 7-8-95. Other feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: 1.Use chains to support vertical poles of support system. 2.Use horizontal poles to support vertical poles.al
