Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that empoyees were exposed to possible uncontrolled release of energy: a.Boiler Test Area - Employees wiring the boilers were not experienced in the task, deviations were made in the wiring colors and the boiler gas safety components were not tested for proper operation prior to the fueling of the system on or about 3/17/94. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: 1.Train and test employees to ensure their knowledge and proficiency prior to allowing independent work. 2.Use wiring colors as designated in schematic to aid in troubleshooting. 3.Test boiler sub-components with inert gas or air to ensure proper operation prior to fueling of the
