Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of a fall from the materials conveyor: a) On or about 8/2/91, employees were riding the conveyor belt to the roof of building 13 which was a three (3) story building. The fall potential was in excess of 30 feet onto building material and ls construction debris. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the conveyor manufacturer's instruction manual and prohibit employees from riding on the conveyor belts.
