Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: the %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the release of deadly hydrogen cyanide gas that was possible as a result of containers of phosphoric acid, caustic soda beads and sodium cyanide being stored near (2-3 feet) each other in the Plating Dept.: A feasible method of correcting this hazard would be to store the materials in areas of complete separation with independent drains.
