Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Employees installing fireplace/chimney framework, standing on 4 ft. by 8 ft. plywood sheet(s), placed on forks of JBC industrial lift truck, at approximately 16 ft. above ground level, was not provided with a fall protection system. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard would be to: 1. Provide a safety platform that meets the standard guardrail requirements of 29 CFR 1926.500(f). 2. Implement fall protection systems such as belt/harness and lanyards which were available at the job site.
