Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall from top step of 10 foot fiber glass ladder to concrete floor below when assembling top supports for semitrailer (container trailer) side pannel on line I. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to train employees to use longer ladders or provide "plateform" type step ladders in which the top 2steps are removed and replaced with a protective railing or support system all conventional step ladders are marked or labeled with a warning of not to use the top
