Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, employees were exposed to physiological impacts due to delayed rescue such as embolism and hypothermia: Rail Yard Tower Platforms: On, or about, April 23, 2015, the employer lacked rescue procedures to be followed in the event that an employee fell while working on the top of the tank cars located in the rail yard. Employees were required to use personal fall arrest systems when working on the top of the tank cars and a large portion of the rail yard was not visible from the terminal area.
