Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: Throughout the entire North Plant by the areas that service the Pressure Vessel Assembly (PVA) - Employees were exposed to struck-by hazards while operating suspended loads in that hooks on overhead cranes were not provided with safety latches. Among other means, one feasible and acceptable methods to abate this hazard is to install safety latches on the hooks as required by Section 2-1.14.5, Hooks, of ASME 30.2-2001.
