Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likley to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that empoyees were exposed to: On or about March 10, 1994, while pulling wire through a cable tray, employees were exposed to the hazards of serious injuries such as lacerations, fractures, internal injuries or death from a roof collapse while performing their duties. Adequate protection was not provided to prevent this from happening. Among others, feasible and acceptable methods of abatement to include: Clear the area of ice and snow and other debris, lay picks or planks on the roof or clearly mark the purlins so employees would not be walking and standing in the middle of the panels.
