Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 12-13-93, two (2) employees riding on a rear platform 5 1/2 ft. by 2 ft. for the Load Star 1700 series glue truck at mile marker 166, Roue I-55 North, near Normal, IL were exposed tothe hazard of falling off the platform of the slow-moving truck, while installing pavement markers. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide guardrails for the platform.
