Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: At the East Peoria Plant, emergency medical procedures were deficient in that during the of shift hours (2nd and 3rd) and Holiday shutdown periods the Emergency Medical Technicians has to clear the use of the ambulance with the security department to transport injury victims. AMONG OTHER METHODS, FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS............. 1) Allow medically trained personnel to use the ambulance for transportation of injury victims as the deem necessary. 2) Revise the emergency medical procedures so that the role and authority of the medical services personnel is clearly defined during response to emergency for all working hours. DISCLAIMER a) The employer is not limited to the abatement methods suggested by OSHA; b) The methods explained are general and may not be effective in all cases; and c) The employer is responsible for selecting and carrying out an effective abatement method.
