Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were not free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) In the production area the brakes on the west single girder underhung bridge crane (Lift Tech ser # 209586-4; 3 Ton; 3/4 H.P. motor ser # M82806 WF) was inadequate in that they did not stop the crane within the required 10of the rated load speed (125 feet/min.), thereby exposing employees to the hazard of being struck by heavy loads.
