Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a)Located along the east interior area of the structure in the Billards #1 Room employee(s) were exposed to the hazards associated with falls in excess of 14' and the potential of being struck by a falling self-propelled elevating work platform while working from the elevated platform on a ramp. Among other methods feasible and acceptable to correct this hazard but are not limited to: 1.Before and during aerial lift operation, conduct an area survey for surface hazards. 2.Prior to each movement and repositioning ensure aerial platforms are operated on a surface within the limits specified by the manufacturer. 3.Maintain a safe distance and clearance from obstacles drop-offs. depressions and ramp edges. 4.Aerial platforms shall not be driven by grades sides of slopes or ramps exceeding those for which the aerial platform is rated by the manufacturer. 5.Specific to the Up-Right XL-19 manufacturers requirement. The platform is not to be elevated or the machine driven while elevated unless the aerial platform is on a firm level surface.
