Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) On or about May 9, 1989, employees were exposed to injury in the event they were to fall from the B inch wide block wall they used as a work platform while setting steel trusses, bolting up and/or welding. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to protect employees is to provide scaffolds, safety belts or work from ladders. Reference 29 CFR 1926.28(a), 29 CFR 1926.450.(a)(1), 29 CFR 1926.451(a) (1).
