Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about 04/29/00 for employees engaged in the replacement of a cleaning light in auditorium #4 of the Carmike Cinema and exposed to a potential fall hazard of approximately 16 feet created by the employer's failure to provide adequate employee training in the proper care, use, and hazards associated with the use of extension trestle ladders. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to provide employee training in the proper care, use, and hazards associated with the use of extension trestle ladders and/or other types of ladders used for maintenance. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").tion
