Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or severe physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hazard of contacting energized parts. In the parking lot of Smallwood Auto Parts employees were pemitted to load and secure crushed vehicles on a flatbed trailer in close proximity to energized overhead power lines. On or about June 20, 1990. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure that loading areas are free from overhead power lines and/or electrical hazards.
