Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The empoyer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed from a fall created by failure of work platform extension on a scissor lift: A) Promenade Construction Site, Right Side of Giant Store, Retail Area - Manlift was provided with a wooden work platform eight (8) foot three and one-half (3 1/2) inches by eight (8) foot extending thirty-one (31) inches over the side exposing workers to a fall of up to fifteen (15) feet, on or about November 9, 1990 Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to remove wooden work platform from self-propelled elevating work platform.
