Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to death from falling hazards: A) Hills Plaza - Employee bolting up, twenty-three feet above the ground was not protected against a falling hazard, on or about January 4 and 10, 1991. b) Hills Plaza - Employees installing the roof decking were not protected against a twenty-three feet fall hazard, on or about January 10, 1991. Among other methods. one feasible and useful method to abate the alleged violation would be to require employees to wear safety belts and life lines. The employer was previously cited for a violation of this or similar Occupational Safety and Health Administration standard which was contained in item number 1 of the citation number 1 issued on June 12, 1984.
