Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The Employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) Operators of tube benders were not adequately trained on the safe operation of the machines and were exposed to the hazards of amputations and crushing injuries as a result of improper operation of and inadequate precautions taken in operating the machines. One feasible method to correct this hazard is to establish a program of training and orientation for operators on the safe operation and guarding required for each machine.
