29 CFR 1910.266(h)(1)(iv): No employee shall approach a feller closer than two tree lengths of trees being felled until the feller has acknowledged that it is safe to do so, unless the employer demonstrates that a team of employees is necessary to manually fell a particular tree. 1) On or about January 21, 2015, and at times prior to, A team of two employees was used to fell multiple trees as part of a power line clearing project. The team practice consisted of one employee using a rope to pull trees in the fall direction while the feller cut the tree at the stump. The employer failed to demonstrate that a team effort, that placed an employee closer than two tree lengths of the tree being felled, was safe and necessary to fell a particular tree.
