Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falls from moving Power Sprayer and being run over by the wheels. a) On or about July 6, 1987, employees were allowed to ride on a FMC Power Speed Sprayer Model No. G-957 that was being used in No. 16 Field of the Evans Grove and were not provided with an adequate seat or platform. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to prohibit any employee from standing or sitting on the Power Speed Sprayer while it is in motion according to the warnings in the Manufacturers Manual.
