Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Struck by hazard. Drilling Rig #2, McMordie Lease, 3-87, Roberts County, Miami, TX: Wire rope approximately one-half in diameter used on the makeup tongs and other hoisting equipment had cable clamps installed so that the saddle or u-bolt was on the dead side of the line. This condition exposed employees to struck by hazards due to the fact that the maximum strength of the rope was undermined by the incorrect installation of the clamps. One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to apply the cable clamps in accordance with the manufacture
