Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) No emergency lighting is provided for work areas and passageways throughout the plant, exposing employees to the hazard of being lost/ trapped inside the building during and emergency situation. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to provide emergency lighting wherever: 1) Employees are required to work or pass through areas which have no exposure to outside light. 2) Any areas in which employees are required to work or pass through during hours of darkness.
