Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) On or about 04/18/90 at Plum Creek manufacturing, Inc, Columbia Falls, Montana, employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by grip arms of the Enerpac Model HP-251 hydraulic puller when an additional hydraulic power device was added to help aid the puller. One feasible and acceptable means of abatement, among others, to correct this hazard would be to follow the manufacturer's recommendations when using the hydraulic puller.
