Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Crushing injuries from falling trusses due to inadequate bracing practices, on or about August 3rd 1992 employees were standing on and working below wooden parallel card scissor trusses in preparation for plywood sheeting without adequate bracing to insure the structural integrity at 1079 Uncochief Circle, Steamboat Springs, CO. 80488. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct the hazard is: 1. To install an adequate number of braces (constructed of proper materials) at designated locations as directed in the Truss Plate Institute Publication BWT-76 Braching Wood Trusses: Commentary and Recommendations as supplied on site by the manufacture of above trusses (Advanced Component Systems
