Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Employees were exposed to: the hazard of being struck and crushed by an unstable sifter agitator/drive unit. The lack of stability of the sifter agitator/drive unit was substantially increased by the freedom of the heavy rotor assembly to move and so move the center of gravity of the sifter agitator/drive unit in so unexpected and uncontrolled manner, on or aobut 7/21/87. Location Fourth Floor Milling Building - One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct the hazard is to install wooden dunnage blockings of the rotor similar to that which had been used to ship the agitator/drive untis from Italy.
