Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by a high pressure gas flow line. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to secure the line to the ground. Essential elements of this procedure would include: 1) Secure or anchor the flow line at the end of the flow line and at intermediate intervals along the line. 2) The flow line is to be open, having no ells, tees or other restrictions at the end. This condition is alleged to have occurred on or about 12/28/87.
