Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: HEAT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about December 3, 1986: The potential hazards of a short circuit causing metal vaporization and extreme heat at the electric power substation at 910 E. 134th Street, Bronx, NY; because of the lack of a positive means to assure an isolated system when applying energy. Among other methods, one feasible and accepted abatement method to correct these hazards is: 1) For the operating order(s) to be developed in such manner that the removal of portable grounds will be done on a separate order and such order to be completed and returned to supervision prior to issuance of an order to energize the system.
