Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential eye, inhalation and skin hazards in that chains used to prevent 1/4 turn valves from accidently being opened were corroded and not replaced or not being used: a. Ground Level, Morgan Back - The 1/4 turn plug valves are located in a congested area that contributes to the hazard created by inadvertently opening the valves, on or about March 24, 1992. Among other methods, one feasible and accepted means to abate this potential hazard is to use the chains to prevent accidental opening of valves and to replace corroded and/or missing chains.
