Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On 4-18-92, at 1700 Broadway, United Bank Building, Denver, CO. Employees performing window washing operations were not adequately protected form falls up to 130 but do to Safety lanyards not being certified to withstand a minimum breaking strength of 5400 lbs. As referenced by ASME A39.1- 1991-6.2.8 Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to purchase certified lanyards from a safety supplier or other source.
