Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.252(b)(2)(iii): Workers or other persons adjacent to the welding areas shall be protected from the rays by noncombustible or flameproof screens or shields or shall be required to wear appropriate goggles. a) On October 29, 2014, the employer failed to put in place welding shields/screens within Building 1 Shop 1 to protect employees adjacent to the welding area from health hazards such as arc eye and welder's flash caused by welding rays. b) On October 29, 2014, the employer failed to require welders conducting mobile welding within Building 1 Shop 2 to put in place welding shields/screens to protect employees (Interior Assembly) adjacent to the welding area from health hazards such as arc eye and welder's flash caused by welding rays. Abatement certificationn is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
