Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to electric shock: a) On or about December 16, 1985, employees were exposed to electrical shock in that Skytop mast mounted on the 1980 Chevrolet truck, Kansas License #TH-5744, located three miles north, one mile west, and 1/4 mile south of Hill City, Kansas, was being operated with 10" of 115kv overhead energized power lines. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to assure proper minimum clearance from all energized power lines.
