Abstract: At approximately 5:00 a.m. on August 5, 2017, an employee was cleaning the auger of beans that were stuck in the auger. The employee had taken off a guard (plastic window) on an auger at the waste pit area. The plastic window slides right off. The employee stuck a 2 by 4 into the auger to break up the beans that were stuck on the auger. The machine was on. The auger grabbed the 2 by 4 and struck the employee's finger against the edge of the metal opening into the auger. The employees left ring finger on the left hand was amputated and his left pinky was pinched. The employee was not hospitalized.
