Abstract: At approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 28, 2017, an employee was operating a meat band saw (Hobart Corporation, Commercial Food Preparing Machine, Model 6801, Serial Number: 31-1413-657) when cutting beef shank. While the employee was cutting the last piece of the shank, the running blade pulled the membrane on the meat and her gloved hand into the blade. Her index and ring fingers were amputated. The employee was transported to Desert Valley Medical Center in Victorville, and then subsequently airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further treatment and hospitalization for a period of 2 days.
